Chris Brown FINALLY drops “Calypso” and who would have guessed what it would finally sound like?

Chris really has a hit on his hands. More R&B driven and less straight dance-pop, Chris Brown continues his assault with these fresh, clean and crisp singles in support of “Fortune”. Though Chris does not really flirt with Calypso sounds on this track, he sounds great singing over these echoed background vocals, melodic claps and subtle drums. He is treading familiar waters while singing about falling in love, being alone with a female and getting to know what she likes. However, the song comes across with a certain sense of sweet tenderness, as Chris is not so direct as he usually is. Though this is nothing we haven’t heard from Chris, it’s another piece of solid R&B that is relevant and stays true to where Chris has come sonically since his beginning. Chris has become a young man and the music is fitting for where he is at in his career. Good look Chris, for it is music this good that makes people forget all the other stuff that people have unfortunately come to associate with Chris Brown.
