Nina Sky prove resilient on their 2nd official single “Heartbeat”

Following a more alternative sound in their first single “Day Dreaming“, “Heartbeat” is a bit more mainstream. You are immediately welcomed in by ambient synths as the beat begins to progress below acapella vocals by the talented twins. Speaking of failed romance that could easily be a metaphor for their professional issues in dealing with a label they asked to be released from a few short years ago. But like then, the girls pushed forward and it seems like their hard work (and talent!) will finally get to be showcased.

Serving as the 2nd single from their LONG/WAY overdue sophomore album, appropriately titled “Nicole and Natalie”, Nina Sky doesn’t go too far left with their approach. Dance music continues to dominate the charts and pop culture in general, so pairing their signature vocal styling with a addictive beat make “Heartbeat” an obvious choice to keep the momentum going for the project. Our favorite twins seem to get their groove back and hopefully for us fans, the same can be said about the album. Nina Sky have often been placed in the underrated category (having been compared in the past to Lauryn Hill) and it has been exciting to see their sound and creativity evolve past (and surpass) silly label politics. I looks like the girls are really comfortable in their skin and it really comes through in their music and visuals. The future looks bright from here!
